Let me begin by promising you that if you have a portraitbooth at your next event it is guaranteed that your guests will never forget how much fun they had. And if you're truly looking for high-quality photos that you and your loved ones will cherish for years to come - I recommend The Portraitbooth Co. based out of Royal Oak, Michigan.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, a "portraitbooth" is a high-quality version of the typical photo booth you may be thinking of. The Portraitbooth Co. pairs their unique ability of making guests feel comfortable in front of the camera, with the highest quality cameras, lenses, and lights. This combination makes for fantastic memories meant to be shared and revisited for years to come.
As I talked about the importance of great wedding photography in a previous spotlight post, I can tell you from firsthand experience that when my husband and I got married, we found The Portraitbooth Co. to be such a valuable addition to our photography dream team. And while our wedding photographer successfully captured ridiculously beautiful candid shots of our evening, we relied on The Portraitbooth Co. to allow our guests to take photos on their own terms.
Tip: Giving your guests multiple ways to connect with those around them will help keep them entertained throughout the evening and ensure a great time for all involved.
Taking it a step further, for our own wedding my husband and I decided ahead of time that our portraitbooth would act as our guestbook. We thought that a book of photos full of our favorite people truly being themselves would mean so much more to us than everyone signing their name in a book, making The Portraitbooth Co. a simple choice. --- After just celebrating our one-year anniversary I can vouch for this to be true, as there was nothing better than being able to curl up together, flip through our photo guestbook, and reminisce.
To put it simply, The Portraitbooth Co. is hands down one of the greatest investments you should include at your event. Whether it be for a wedding, birthday party, baby shower, or reunion, having high-quality photos of you and your guests having a blast is an investment you won't regret.
So, what are you waiting for? Epic pictures await. See for yourself at www.portraitbooth.co.
Alright, Party People, let's talk food. If you're planning an outdoor wedding, feeding your guests can get tricky. When my husband and I were in the planning process, our number one goal was to treat our event like any other party we would typically throw. We wanted our guests to feel relaxed and comfortable, not that they were being shuffled around while waiting for the next portion of our event to take place. We wanted to take the pressure off of everyone, ourselves included, and eliminate the traditional flow of the evening. So, when my husband and I were deciding on a caterer for our outdoor wedding, a food truck was an obvious choice.
There are many great benefits of having a food truck cater your wedding. They are already equipped and have experience with serving a large number of people quickly and efficiently, they can set up shop almost anywhere, and they are able to give your guests a unique and interactive dining experience.
So, after a lot of research, A Moveable Feast, based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was an easy choice for us. Not only are their food prices affordable, but they were also willing to travel to our property in Kalamazoo without overcharging us with lavish travel fees. And most importantly they had a vast variety of delicious food options, which allowed us to be creative and stay true to our vision. Did I mention the food was absolutely delicious?
Most importantly, we fell in love with basically every aspect of their business model. Their priorities reflected our priorities, which was extremely important to us. One of the main aspects we focused on when planning our wedding was the desire to be respectful to our environment and those whom we share it with. In other words, we knew we didn't want our wedding to be a burden on our environment by being wasteful or supporting harmful habits. Luckily for us, the following is a list of reasons why choosing A Moveable Feast to be apart of our special day was one of the easiest choices we made:
1 .They minimize the use of processed ingredients;
2. They source their ingredients locally;
3. They buy from farms that raise animals responsibility; and
4. They make food from scratch.
What a dreamboat of a food truck, amiright? Overall we loved our experience. The employees were extremely pleasant and patient throughout the entire evening, and we were able to offer an exciting and unique dining experience to our guests,
As you can see we went with a taco theme, however, the options are endless!

One of my biggest beliefs when planning any event is the importance of investing your money in what matters to you most. For me, that was photography, hands down. The way I look at it, we spend so much time, money, sweat and tears into planning our event, and in the end our pictures are the beholder of those memories. Those pictures are your means for transportation back to that very space and time years later when your family is huddled around an album, reminiscing about Uncle Norman’s wild dance moves.
However, I have seen time and time again, couples who spend a whole lot of money on party favors and other details that few will remember, and then in the same breath decide that the photographer they want doesn’t fit into their budget. Trust me, your guests will survive without their bubbles!
The worst part is, most people end up carrying out unnecessary and expensive traditions just because they feel they have to. You don’t have to. Invest that money towards something more important to you – please! Invest in a great photographer. Do your research! Find a photographer with a shooting style that makes you light up time-and-time again. For my husband and I, that was Jill DeVries Photography based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
I can vividly remember the first time I saw Jill’s photography. My friends hired her as their wedding photographer back in 2011, and from the moment I laid my eyes on just one of her pictures, I became obsessed. So, without further ado, let me tell you a little bit about Jill.
Her ability to use natural light and capture your surrounding environment is phenomenal.
She captures the big picture of the day by making sure to not only focus on her subject, but also to appreciate and understand that the beauty that surrounds us is just as important to the shot as we are.
And at the same time, she makes sure to capture those small details that we would all otherwise forget about.
No matter how awkwardly camera shy you may be, she has an amazing way of making you feel completely comfortable.
She is stealthy! I had so many of our guests comment on how great our pictures turned out, and how they never even noticed that she was around. This technique makes for many great candid shots of your friends and family just being their normal, beautiful selves.
And most importantly she instructs you without being pushy or too posed. Jill and her team are known for their candid-style photos, and as I like to put it, they eliminate the ‘cheese’, if you will. I know, at one time or another, we have all wished that we could hire a professional photographer to follow us around and ever-so-magically capture all of our adventures. Well, those are exactly the kind of photos you will get with Jill. She captures the real moments, in the most beautifully candid way.
She accomplishes this by allowing your day to progress naturally. She won't interrupt a moment by asking you to strike a pose, because she understands the importance of capturing the real moment as it's happening. This way, when we look back on our pictures we are able to be brought back to that very feeling; the feeling of seeing a best friend you haven't seen in a very long time, and the love you felt at the very moment they ran to you and embraced you in the most sincere way.
And it's these pictures that we end up appreciating the most.
To put it simply, she is one talented woman. By the end of the day she will feel like your new best friend, and for my husband and I she is one that we intend to keep around for a long time. Can anyone say baby pictures? :)
